Obituary
Donald Albert Hartstack, 83, North Kansas City, entered into eternal peace on Monday, April 18, 2016, at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 1 pm at Fairview Christian Church in Gladstone. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Burial will be at Floral Hills Cemetery.

Don was born October 29, 1932, in Kansas City, to Albert Robert and Dorothea Louise (Kempf) Hartstack. He was raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from Southwest High School in 1948. While working full-time at Folger Coffee Company, he attended night school at Rockhurst College, graduating in 1958 with a degree in accounting. He met his bride, Doris June May, at Folger’s and they were married June 27, 1953. He enjoyed a long, rewarding career in the food industry. After 18 years with Folger's, he moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where he was employed with IBP. He returned to Kansas City in 1976 and was associated with Sunshine Biscuit. After retirement, he especially enjoyed his position as a funeral director at D.W. Newcomer's and Sons for 20 years. He was a member and Elder Emeritus of Fairview Christian Church and a 50+ year member of his Masonic affiliations: Albert Pike Lodge, DeMolay Legion of Honor, 33rd degree Scottish Rite, and the Greeter Unit of Ararat Shrine. He was Potentate of Ararat in 1990, and a 34 year member of the Royal Order of Jesters.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Doris, daughter Denise (Tom) Barber, South Sioux City, Nebraska, grandchildren and great-granddaughters, Laura (Jason) Carley and Belle, Leisa (Stacey) Hamilton and Ashlynn, Braylee, Hailey and Raelyn May, Eric Barber and significant other Lucile Deming, in-laws, Dave (Lillian) Mathis, Elaine (Willis) Brown, James (Katie) May, nieces and nephews, and many caring friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Althea Mathis, and great-granddaughter, Camryn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Christian Church, Ararat Shrine Transportation Fund, Scottish Rite CLC, or Crossroads Hospice. The family would like to express their gratitude to Seva, most especially Carla and Laila, and Crossroads Hospice for their wonderful care.
