SEDALIA CLUB COOKIE CONTEST |
|
The Sedalia Scottish Rite Club sponsored what was billed as a "First Lady Cookie Contest" at the Missouri State Fair on August 19. The picture was
e-mailed to me. I pulled the cutline off of the State Fair web site. I don't know how it became the "Scottish Rite Cookie Contest." However, if we continue to
sponsor the event and it gets a little bigger, that would be wonderful publicity for our club and the Scottish Rite, in General. |

COMMUNICATION FROM THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY |
|
Brothers:
Just a reminder that our Fall Reunion will be on October 23rd. and 24th. If this years Masters are to bring in a larger number of candidates than last years
Masters we all need to promote Scottish Rite to as many potential candidates as possible. Just so everyone quotes the correct fees to those candidates, the initiation fee for the Fall
Reunion is $250.00 which includes the cost of the Cap and $100.00 for next years dues for a total of $350.00. There are many old petitions out which reflect the wrong amounts.
Lets build our Fraternity numbers back to what they were in past years.
We will not be holding a Spring Reunion next year because an Orient wide and multi-state Reunion is scheduled to be held in
Joplin
on March 18 and 19, 2011. On these dates the candidates will see all 29 Scottish Rite degrees. More information will follow as it becomes available.
Kenneth Hyatt, Executive Secretary.

CALL FOR ARTICLES |
|
In our fraternity, the most important job that any of us can do is to spread the cement of brotherly love,
relief, and truth. What does your club do? How does your club support the community, the Scottish Rite, or Freemasonry? Let your brothers know by simply sending an article to the Rite
Start! Email the Rite Start at enews@ritestart.org, by phone at 816-561-2277, or by dropping an article by the Temple Office. Let the whole
Valley know about your club!

I have had an inquiry for New Years eve this year, they want to have a dinner with an old school R&B concert.
I need to know how many people we could get to work this event. If you are willing to work this event, which will make a nice chunk of change for the Valley, please let me know.
Otherwise we may have to turn it down.

SUNDAY MORNING DISCUSSIONS |
|
Sunday Morning Breakfast is a weekly gathering of sincere students of freemasonry structured around the system of
the Scottish Rite where freedom of speech and freedom of religion are venerated where questions are welcomed and exploration is encouraged. We take the degrees one at a time
and review them, we use the properties of the valley and replicate the lodge rooms for the degrees and walk through the degrees word for word from the scripts of the degrees reawakening
and reconfirming the teachings and the obligations of those degrees. After which we retire to the small dinning room for breakfast and discussion surrounding the degree. All Scottish
Rite Masons are welcomed to attend and to participate in the degree reviews. (Provided that you have obtained the degree we are reviewing)

QUICK FACT... |
|
In 1958, the Valley moved in to a building at 3201 Flora, just down the street from our current home. It was remodeled and served as
the home to our Valley until 1971, when it was sold to Model Cities.

Members of our valley and surrounding valleys continue to write papers for the College of the consistory out of Guthrie
OK. And the Philosophical society would encourage all with in Scottish Rite who are looking for a better understanding of the Scottish Rite and Freemasonry in general to join that
College. Local members of the Philosophical society will continue to support anyone who chooses that course.
